CNMA Operating During Shutdown

The federal government’s lapse in appropriations may have closed the national parks and monuments and the visitor center on the monument, but the Colorado National Monument Association will continue operations. We are still taking internet and phone orders for our bookstore and we will be operating out of temporary venues. This weekend we will have a booth at the Tour of the Moon start and finish area at Two Rivers Convention Center, and we are finalizing plans to start operations at the Dinosaur Journey Museum in Fruita on Monday. We appreciate the support from the community during this time of upheaval. Please follow us on Facebook and check your email for updates from us. You may reach us at Linda Spinner, Executive Director, is available on her cell phone, 970-596-4522 and you may leave messages for us 970.858.3617, ext. 307 or 308.

To answer your questions: Colorado National Monument trails are closed and are posted “closed”. Except for the 4 miles of public road on the East Hill, Rim Rock Drive is closed.

Many of our October events and hikes have been cancelled. Please check our October newsletter for a full update. We will continue to update our events page on this website with the latest information.

What can you do? Please contact your local congressional representative and let them know how you feel about the closure.

We are continuing operations so that we can support the Monument in the future. Help us by becoming a member of CNMA.
